Following the purchase of a tired 1950’s dwelling, the new owners extended the house towards the east with an open plan kitchen dining space and commissioned Creating Place to produce a private garden design.

The site lay immediately south of a former railway embankment with a public right of way with elevated views directly across the garden and into bedroom windows.

The client required a master plan for them to implement over a period of time with the first priority to gain privacy from overlooking. The response was to plant a number of semi mature trees along the boundary underplanted with dense native evergreen shrubs.  Further tree and shrub planting was to be incorporated around the house to create a number of seating and informal spaces. These were to enclose a trampoline, climbing frame and summer house and define space for a wood store, BBQ, herb garden and composting area.
