A natural turf pitch was designed and developed as part of a land swap deal between HCC and a developer prior to the disposal of a parcel land required to access a large strategic housing land allocation site. This ensured the school had a high quality facility before a new access road was constructed through the school’s grounds to serve the new major development area, and before the remaining part of the school’s grounds were developed for housing.

The gently sloping site was used as paddock but overlay sticky clay with poor quality nutrient deficient soil. The land was re-graded, top soil ameliorated, and drainage improved using primary and secondary land drainage. A new 1.8m high steel boundary fence with access gates provide the school with a secure site, and tree and hedge planting included to complete the scheme, which was constructed by Scandor.
