A technical understanding of landscape architecture was required to take on the detail design of the external areas associated with a new 10,000 sq ft private dwelling located immediately adjacent to the South Downs Way on an elevated position in the South Downs National Park.

The detail design included a 50m long ‘haha’, orchard, subterranean courtyard overlooked by an infinite pool, installation of a ground source heat pump, sewerage treatment plant, dew ponds and bore holes for irrigation.

Creating Place was then re-appointed to provide a landscape and visual impact assessment to support an planning application to install roof mounted photovoltaic panels and ground mounted arrays within the grounds. The application was approved and the scheme implemented soon after in 2014.
