Creating Place was appointed by Robert Adams Architects to assist them to plan a Major Development Area on the outskirts of Newquay.

The proposals, developed to respond to Robert Krier’s model of urban regeneration sought to create a legible framework for the development able to be re-modelled to respond to economic changes and market trends.

The Phase 2 study provides a masterplan for a minimum of 200 dwellings of mixed tenure and typology and includes open space provisions, crèche, retail outlet and commercial premises. The perimeter blocks enclose parking courts with garages and energy/recycling centres.

The wider objective is to develop a sustainable approach to the urban expansion of Newquay to accommodate 7500 homes planned over the next 20 years.
