A report, including analysis, options and overall concept was prepared for a landscape improvement scheme for Brentwood High Street, on behalf of URBED.

The proposals incorporated a partial pedestrianisation scheme of the High Street to improve the quality of the public realm, encourage street activity, and reduce traffic speeds. Service access was to be maintained, but restricted to certain times of the day.

A strategy was proposed to rationalise the street furniture and lighting to provide a visual coherence and enable the local authority to adopt a phased implementation and replacement policy.
