A ‘Planning For Real’ exercise was carried out to develop a ‘Master plan for Change’.

The event considered the issues of access, safety, compatibility of various activities, as well as the aspirations of the local neighbourhood. The event brought together residents, community leaders, and local councillors. Major concerns raised by the residents were joy-riding, vehicles being abandoned and set on fire, drug abuse and intimidation.

The proposals sought to include new sports facilities with running track, sports pitches and play areas. The perimeter was to be landscaped using tree planting and mounding to prevent joy riding, whilst maintaining visibility. Community wardens were to be employed and CCTV incorporated at key locations to provide security.
