A development framework was prepared to provide the basis for a mixed use development on the outskirts of Hythe. The peninsular, once used by the MoD, lay adjacent to tidal channel SSSI, offering extensive views across Southampton Water.

The proposals sought to create a series of perimeter blocks with sea views leading to a public space on the water’s edge. A promenade was to form a continuous pedestrian route around the peninsular forming a link with a new footpath identified in the Local Plan.

Parking was located to the rear of apartments to maximise the space available for pedestrians, whilst a new slipway at the centre of the development, with commercial and retail uses, were to provide a vibrant centre at the heart of the development.
