Located adjacent to Ocean Village in Southampton, landscape proposals were prepared to support a planning application for a seven-storey apartment block with office and retail uses at ground floor.
The apartments are organised around a courtyard at first floor level situated above parking. This courtyard connects to street level, via a linear space, whilst two roof top terraces provide residents with extensive views from sixth and seventh floors.
Each space has been designed to respond to resident’s needs. The courtyard has been designed to guide residents and visitors towards a number of entry points, whilst providing ground floor apartments with a defensible margin. The oval shapes, inspired by a falling leaf, create a dynamic space of movement and level change.
Upper levels have been designed for privacy and residents with young families may enjoy views across the harbour. An enclosed play area has been included to encourage social interaction, with wind sculptures to provide additional interest.
