hythe primary school
A brief was prepared with the head teacher and 8-9 year old pupils to provide a play area to compensate for the loss of a play court, which was developed to provide the school with a new hall.
The space was designed to offer areas for children to sit in peace and quiet in dappled shade away from rowdy playground activities. The space is enclosed by a series of timber posts, painted in the colours of the rainbow, whilst plant species have been chosen to contrast with the colours of the posts.
The scheme has proved to be very popular amongst adults and children.
Cost: £34,000
